EKAO Player Management, a West African sports-management organization dedicated to bridging the gap between grassroots football talent and global opportunity, has announced a landmark partnership involving the Abia State Government and youth leadership across Ikwuano and Umuahia to sponsor a native of Umuahia for high-performance football trials in Spain.
Founded in 2025 and operating across Nigeria, Spain, and Germany, EKAO provides comprehensive athlete services including talent identification, career development, contract negotiation, branding, and post-career planning. In a strategic meeting held in Umuahia, the Managing Director and CEO of EKAO, Mr. Kenneth Ogbuehi, a FIFA-licensed agent, met with Professor Kenneth Kalu, the Secretary to the Abia State Government, alongside Chief Chiedozie Martins Nwosu, National President of the Ibeku Youth Association and Coordinator of the Ikwuano–Umuahia Champions League Tournament.
The meeting centered on sustainable sports development in Abia State, focusing on improved training infrastructure, enhanced athlete welfare, long-term development pathways, and broader partnerships designed to elevate young footballers across the region. The Abia State Government, through the Office of the SSG and the Ministry of Sports, endorsed and supported the initiative as part of its ongoing commitment to revitalising sports and unlocking opportunities for local talents.
The collaboration is already producing tangible results. Wisdom Okechukwu, a young and promising footballer from Nsukwe Ubakala, Umuahia South, is currently in Spain undergoing trials with multiple clubs, in a process coordinated by Mr. Kenneth Ogbuehi. His progress represents the first visible outcome of the joint effort between EKAO Player Management, the Abia State Government, and Umuahia–Ikwuano youth leadership to create international pathways for homegrown talent.
EKAO Player Management reaffirmed its dedication to expanding global opportunities for Nigerian athletes and strengthening its developmental footprint across Abia State.
